There are some big changes coming to all the exchange sites – but more information on this to follow in the coming days.

We are looking for writers for a new teacher blog that will be accompanying the new look community. This article could be on teaching in general, be subject specific about a new theme in the area, a book review (again either general teaching or subject specific) or a feature article on some aspect of teaching, educational policy, personal experience or experimentation in class.

But the articles could be on anything that you think would interest teachers. Get creative!

For each article that is submitted and we publish you will receive £10 in Amazon gift vouchers. There are no style guides and you are welcome to change and edit the post over time if you need to. Long posts or short posts – as long as it makes people think.

Who will see it? Mainly teachers, student teachers and those interested in teaching and pedagogy. On our exchange sites we get over 2 million hits a month mainly from the UK but also from around the world. The articles will be posted on a blog-type-magazine on the new site and attributed to you (or whatever name you wish it to be if you wish to be anonymous).

ATPS 2011 Annual Conference

We were invited to present two sessions at The Association for the Teaching of Psychology in Scotland 10^th Anniversary Conference on the 5^th February 2011.

The first session included a full and interactive exploration about how to use www.psychexchange.co.uk

The second session discussed the many other uses of web 2.0 to aid teaching and learning.

We had a great time in Edinburgh and Stirling.

ATP Conference 2011 – Hertfordshire

The Association for the Teaching of Psychology Annual Conference is to be held at the University of Hertfordshire, 8th to 10th July, 2011.

Details of the conference and booking can be found on www.atpconference.org.uk

The conference will run in its usual residential format opening at 12.30 on Friday 8th July and closing at 2.00 on Sunday 10th July. Alongside the conference will also be one-day CPD events.

On Friday 8th and Saturday 9th there will be one-day CPD programmes that will run in parallel with the main conference.

The conference will provide a wide range of CPD opportunities for teachers including,

Updating key areas in psychology
Sharing good practice with colleagues
Seminars with examiners from the Awarding Bodies
Displays and demonstrations from educational publishers
Using technology in teaching

Fees for full residential attendance at the full conference start from £275 and single day CPD events are available from only £140.

Bookings can be made through The British Psychological Society shop (link through the conference website).

Health and Social Care Exchange

Our latest addition to the exchange network sites is HSCshare.co.uk A number of health and social care teachers contacted us about the need to share resources and hopefully this new web site will be as popular and usefull as our other sharing sites.

We can now have sharing sites up and running very quickly so if you do have any suggestions for further exchange sites do drop us an email.

Sociology Exchange Updates

We have updated www.sociologyexchange.co.uk

The site now has lots of extra features such as double tagging, bookmarking and a new drop down menu. Importantly the site now allows members to create profiles, write blogs, create links to their own work and much more.

Currently SociologyExchange has over 3,000 users sharing over 400 resources.

PsychNews

We started psychnews.co.uk a couple of years ago and then got a bit sidetracked with PsychExchange which we thought would make PsychNews a little bit silent.

Now we have learned that psychology teachers enjoyed having a regular digest of easily searchable psychology news and therefore have redesigned the site and more importantly recruited experienced psychology teachers to contribute to PsychNews.

Five Year Anniversary of Save the Rennets.com

Save the rennets was one of our first ventures into web 2.0 development as it originally included the ability for users to both upload their own pictures of rennets and rate other users’ rennets.

Unfortunately the popularity of this site meant that we did have to delete this function as the moderation of rennet pictures became too time consuming and embarrassing/distasteful even for us.

We are so chuffed that savetherennets.com though has gone on to be a major website for courses in the USA (and just a few in the UK) that evaluate websites. As well as appearing in numerous American and Canadian online courses it is also in print in US textbooks and we even got a mention here in the UK in the Guardian and The Big Issue.

What’s next? We need to do a new one as www.savetherennets is now over five years old.
